MEET THE SCIENTISTS
DR. ROB CARTER
MARINE BIOLOGIST/GENETICIST
Dr. Carter obtained a BS in Applied Biology from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1992. He then spent four years teaching high school biology, chemistry, physics and electronics before going to the University of Miami to obtain his PhD in Marine Biology. He successfully completed this program in 2003 with a dissertation on “Cnidarian Fluorescent Proteins.” While in Miami, he studied the genetics of pigmentation in corals and other invertebrates, designed and built an aquaculture facility for Caribbean corals, performed well over 500 SCUBA dives, many of them at night, and licensed a spin-off product of his research (a patented fluorescent protein) to a biotech company. Dr. Carter is currently a senior scientist and speaker for CMI-USA in Atlanta, Georgia, and is currently researching human genetics and other issues related to biblical creation. DR. JOHN SANFORD
PLANT BREEDER/GENETICIST
As a Cornell University professor, Dr. Sanford conducted genetic research for over 30 years. This research has resulted in more than 100 scientific publications and several dozen patents. In addition to producing numerous new crop varieties, John's research resulted in new genetic engineering technologies. A large fraction of the transgenic crops grown in the world today involved use of the biolistic “gene gun” process, of which John was the primary inventor. Dr. Sanford feels his most significant contributions to science have been: 1) the Biolistic Process (now on display in the Smithsonian Museum); 2) the book Genetic Entropy; 3) Development of Mendel's Accountant (the most advanced and biologically realistic numerical simulation of the mutation/selection process); and the Cornell symposium and subsequently published proceedings entitled Biological Information–New Perspectives (available at BINP.org).
DR. NATHANIEL JEANSON
DEVELOPMENTAL BIOLOGIST
Dr. Nathaniel Jeanson holds a PhD in cell and developmental biology from Harvard University. He serves as a research biologist, author, and speaker with Answers in Genesis and formerly conducted research with the Institute for Creation Research.
Dr. Jeanson has recently published the book, Replacing Darwin: The New Origin of Species.

GENETICIST
Dr. Georgia Purdom holds a PhD in molecular genetics from The Ohio State University. She formerly served as an assistant and associate professor of biology at Mt. Vernon Nazarene University. Dr. Purdom is the director of Educational Content and actively speaks and writes for Answers in Genesis.
DR. ANDREW
SNELLING
GEOLOGIST
Dr. Andrew Snelling holds a PhD in geology from the University of Sydney, Australia. He serves as Answers in Genesis’ director of research and is the editor-in-chief of the online Answers Research Journal. Dr. Snelling is active in research and writes and speaks on topics such as the Flood, fossils, and the Grand Canyon. Dr. Snelling was a lead investigator with the RATE (Radioisotopes and the Age of The Earth) team research project.
CHRISTOPHER
RUPE
BIOLOGIST
Chris graduated from SUNY (State University of New York) Geneseo with a degree in biology in 2009. Afterwards he started a non-profit organization (Back2Genesis.org). Since the fall of 2011 Chris has been a Research Associate at FMS Foundation in collaboration with geneticist Dr. John Sanford. As a researcher with FMS Foundation, Chris has conducted numerical simulation research aimed at better understanding the historical problem of Haldane's Dilemma, as well as the problem of fixation of deleterious mutations over deep-time. In 2017 (updated in 2019), Chris co-authored a book with Dr. Sanford on the hominin fossil record, Contested Bones (ContestedBones.org). He is currently a graduate student.
DR. JASON LISLE
ASTROPHYSICIST
Dr. Lisle double-majored in physics and astronomy with a minor in mathematics at Ohio Wesleyan University. He then went on to obtain a Master’s degree and Ph.D. in astrophysics at the University of Colorado in Boulder. There, he used the SOHO spacecraft to analyze the surface of the sun, and made a number of interesting discoveries, including the detection of giant cell boundaries. Dr. Lisle is the founder of the Biblical Science Institute (biblicalscienceinstitute.com). He is a popular speaker and the author of a number of best-selling books on the topic of creation, including Taking Back Astronomy, Stargazer’s Guide to the Night Sky, The Ultimate Proof of Creation, Discerning Truth, and Understanding Genesis.
